“Under 19’s try hard but go to 16 during the last home game.”
The round 18 shoot out against the Blacks was the final under 19 game for the season. The young Old Trinity side started with 19 players but fell to 16 with injuries and found the going tough but put up a fight on home soil.
What a great win! This is the win we have been waiting for all season. Old Trinity Reserves defeated Uni Blacks by two points in a high standard classic at Football World.
Plainly, a lot has changed at Old Trinity in the last three months. In Round 6, playing away, Old Trinity gave Ormond 38 points start midway through Q2 and struggled to win by 14 points. This time, at the Marles Playing Fields, it led from go to whoa for a thumping 95 point victory and recorded its highest score for seven years. And it wasnt as if Ormond had nothing to play for!
It was a great day out at Bulleen last Saturday. Not only did both reserves and seniors notch up impressive wins but the club celebrated Mick Elliott's 300th game of VAFA football. Mick only joined Old Trinity in 2007 because his fiancée was related to the OT hierarchy and since has notched up 31 senior and reserve games for the club. Mick however will best be remembered for his stella career at Therry Penola which commenced in 1992 and included several years in A Grade and totalled 269 games. Mick fondly remembers one of his first games against OT when he was up against the ageless Rambo. Throughout his career he played mainly as a ruck rover and always had a keen eye for the goals (he managed three last Saturday). Although Therry Penola has slipped through the grades in recent years, Mick was always a standout performer and was a C-D State representative in 2000.
A Great Day at the Office
Old Trinity reserves "took care of business" against an undermanned Ormond outfit at Football World.
The round 17 clash against arch rivals Marcellin was going to be an interesting game. The young Old Trinity side had played some great footy over the last month but fell last week to the lower placed Rupertswood side. Marcellin is second last on the ladder but had regained lots of players and had 6 on the bench. Old Trinity lost four players from the announced side on Thursday, due to different reasons but it meant no bench and no rotations.
Old Trinity's finals aspirations took a dive on Saturday following a three goal loss to St Kevins. In a very high standard game of football, St Kevins proved themselves to be a little more polished when it counted to record a crucial victory.
Unders play their best game of the season; hit the front, then get run over in the last two minutes
In an absolute thriller at Bulleen, the Unders hit the front with three minutes to go against a powerfull Old Xavs unit, but could not hang on in the dying seconds. Final score:-
Old Trinity kept it finals hopes
alive with a fighting 16 point victory against Old Camberwell. The win wets the
appetite for next week's clash with second placed, St Kevins.
A capacity crowd of five spectators
(not including the Burgess' mongrel dog) saw the opening minutes of the game
which resembled an arm wrestle at a U.S Navy Bar. Both sides didn't flinch
during a physical opening. Chris Pawsey won the toss (his strike rate is better
than Ponting's) and kicked with the cyclone to the Marcellin/Lagoon/Wading Pool
end. Rumour has it, that Sangas is building a pool bar down by the bottom oval
to be enjoyed during the summer months.
