Coaching Panel for 2009 Finalised Print E-mail
During what is becoming a shorter and shorter off season, the committee has been beavering away to put in place a coaching panel that is hoped will give the club every opportunity to return to the upper echelons of the VAFA as soon as possible. Working with our senior coach, Brett Chandler, we have assembled a panel that we hope will realise this aim.

The Club is pleased to announce that working with Brett in the senior assistant role will be Gerard Sholly.  Gerard is well known in amateur circles, having successfully coached at Old Ivanhoe at A & B Grade level, Old Paradians in their glory days and played with and coached Old Xavarians.

Ivan Tudor, our senior runner for the past 7 seasons, will step up as the fitness coach, passing on a personal passion for fitness and well being.

Adam Andrews will continue to guide the reserves, but will also have an assistant role to Brett.  Adam will again be supported by Hayden Munroe and Ed Best.

Ray Leetham and Vic Soligo will continue their fine work of season 2008, as the under 19 boys face the challenge of premier division in 2009.

To ensure the club derives maximum benefit from this illustrious group, we are pleased that Gil VanDerVenne has agreed to co-ordinate the coaches, with a focus on deriving the best football outcomes across the whole club.  Gil will also act as Chairman of Selectors.

Winners are Grinners Print E-mail

One Hundred and eighty of the Trinity faithful gathered at Hawthorn Receptions last Friday night to celebrate the success of our under 19 premiership team and to acknowledge the individuals who had had outstanding seasons.

While we were disappointed to be relegated to B Section for season 2009, the way ahead was clearly articulated by our senior coach Brett Chandler and with a more steely resolve and the injection of youth from our under 19s the future looks bright.

On the night we were also able to acknowledge several wonderful servants of our club by awarding them life membership. Jon Cade for his 200 plus games, Andrew Kennedy for over 40 years service including four at the helm as President and Joan Martin/Weatherson nee Wardrop for her devotion and hard work for the club since its inception in 1954.

Finally we accorded Vicki VanDerVenne the praise she truly deserves for her hard work over the past couple of season with the "Tony Lyons Award" as Best Club Person.

Premiership Glory!! Print E-mail

Our Under 19s were simply sensational on Sunday defeating Old Ivanhoe by 58 points at St Bernards College in the under 19 Grand Final.  After a fairly even first quarter the boys really kicked into gear and won ever quarter thereafter rattling on 5 goals 10 behinds in the last quarter to run out easy winners.

The club is really proud of you all. Congratulations and thank you to Ray Leetham and Vic Soligo who have done a wonderful job with the team this year.  Ray's usual match report will follow shortly.

Great Day with the Lawyer, Copper and Crook!! Print E-mail

What an fabulous afternoon. The annual "long lunch" at Yarra Valley Country Club lived up to all expectations. Dyson Hore-Lacy (the lawyer), Kim West (the copper) and Graeme Alford (the crook) kept us all entertained with colourful anecdotes of their glorious pasts.  The "Irish Auction" run by John Connellan from Old Xavs proved a winner and a large wad of cash went straight to the OT coffers.

Congratulations and well done to Andrew Kennedy for his organisation and hard work.
