| “Eighteen turn up to play arch rivals at home” |

The round 17 clash against arch rivals Marcellin was going to be an interesting game. The young Old Trinity side had played some great footy over the last month but fell last week to the lower placed Rupertswood side. Marcellin is second last on the ladder but had regained lots of players and had 6 on the bench. Old Trinity lost four players from the announced side on Thursday, due to different reasons but it meant no bench and no rotations.
The game played was an open contest with lots of run and carry. The difference between the two sides was that Marcellin had multiple mid field rotations whereas Old Trinity had limited options in this area and the players that played in these roles ran out of puff and could not be replaced with players capable of running a mid field role.
Up forward Old Trinity had lots of scoring opportunities but rushed some shots and missed set shots from directly in front of goal. There were two goal kickers for the day in Spassopoulos (1st Q) and Hore Lacy (4th Q).Down back the back six were under constant pressure but stood firm and kept pressure on the opposition all day, in windy conditions.
The third term was Old Trinitys best, controlling the game but kicking 6 points where 6 goals would have put us back in the contest. In the end the difference was over 10 goals but credit should be given to the eighteen players who turned up to play for the Old Trinity jumper, including two school boys in Ben Howell and Tom Hore Lacy who had been at house athletics in the morning. Both will be solid contributors in the future.
Goals Spassopoulos 1, Hore Lacy 1.
Best Fogarty, Birrell, Howell, Cerini, Chadwick, Potter.
